Islam & Earth is a platform where conversations on critical Earth-based issues are explored through an Islamic worldview. This project is premised on the belief that Earth-based connections and activism is connected to an intrinsic belief and connection to Allah(swt), the Creator of the Universe.
Islam & Earth is a project developed by Memona Hossain. Memona is a mother, community-based collaborator, and a PhD candidate in Applied Ecopsychology. Ecopsychology is the area of study that explores the connective, holistic relationship between humans and the Earth.
She holds a Master's in Education from the University of Toronto. She has been a lecturer through the School of Environment at the University of Toronto. She teaches through community platforms such as the University of Guelph Arboretum, and the Riverwood Conservancy. Memona also serves on the Board of Directors for: The Muslim Association of Canada; Faith & the Common Good; and Willow Park Ecology Center. She serves as an Advisor & Content Contributor for Faithfully Sustainable, and is a member of the Green Ummah Blog Editorial Team.
